Another university, another wave of job cuts

The Omaha World-Herald reports that one Nebraska institution is laying off 60 people. But the reason might surprise you.

The president said reductions in expenses are necessary for Creighton’s long-term stability.

Hendrickson said Creighton expects to have a large incoming freshman class in late summer.

But competition with other universities is intense, he wrote, and increasing financial aid is needed to attract students. Many families also are struggling and need increasing support to send their children to a private university, he wrote.
