LaVar Ball: My son didn’t win the national title because of slow “white guys”

Well, there it is: LaVar Ball played the race card. And with it, whatever credibility he thought he had is gone.

The Orange County Register quotes the loud-mouth father of UCLA’s Lonzo Ball (who has announced he’s entering the NBA Draft) as saying slow “white guys” ended his son’s championship dreams.

“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” LaVar Ball said. “I told Lonzo – ‘One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”

Two points to remember: One of those “white guys” is the son of the head coach, and Ball has two other sons who he says will play basketball at UCLA.
