Baylor women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey said the right thing on Thursday, five days after saying the absolute wrong thing.
Mulkey admitted it was absolutely wrong to tell the university’s supporters to punch anyone who criticized the institution for how it handled the multiple sexual assaults linked to the football team.
The video of her tearful — and sincere — apology was posted by ESPN. At one point, she says,
“It all got the best of me, because I love this place. A lot of bad things happened here, but I’ve always thought about the victims.”
She did the right thing after doing the wrong thing. That’s what society expects. Now leave her alone and let her coach her team. Anyone who continues to question her about what she said last weekend is simply trying to create controversy.
