U.S., to Iran: No welcome mat for you. Iran, to U.S: Right back at you.

The Washington Post notes that the Iranian government is refusing to allow U.S wrestlers into the country for a prominent international tournament.

IRNA quoted Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, as saying that a special committee reviewed the case. “Eventually the visit by the U.S. freestyle wrestling team was opposed,” he said.

Ghasemi said the policy of the new U.S. administration left Iran no choice but to ban the American wrestlers.

One can expect that more and more Americans seeking to enter Iran for work, travel, education or other purpose will find the doors locked, so to speak.
