The Ottawa Citizen has the details.

Vigneault, who hails from Gatineau and was at home with family and friends for Christmas, had originally planned to fly back to New York on Boxing Day, preparing to lead his team for Tuesday’s morning skate.

All that changed, however, due to the freezing rain which halted traffic. Like many travellers, Vigneault was stuck in Ottawa, unable to get out.

Come Tuesday morning, the easiest and quickest solution to get to New York was a unique one — jumping aboard the Senators charter flight.
