Adios, NWCN

Northwest Cable News will go dark in January 2017. The details below come from this morning’s “Morning Media NewsFeed” from Ad Week:

NWCN, Northwest Cable News, which was launched in December 1995, is going dark in January 2017. Jim Rose, who oversees KING-KONG and NWCN, along with the stations’ digital properties, told TVSpy, “It’s all about audience.” (TVSpy)

Rose says as viewers migrate to mobile and digital for news, the TV audience has been dwindling. The network, which serves Washington, Oregon and Idaho, is owned by TEGNA, with headquarters in Seattle. NWCN launched Dec. 18, 1995 as one of the first regional news networks in the U.S. (TVNewser)
