No position in a potential Hillary Clinton administration is getting more chatter than who would be secretary of State.
And why not? If Clinton beats Donald Trump, the State Department will have its former leader in the White House for the first time since James Buchanan was president. (Do diplomats just make for bad candidates? One wonders.) It’s a plum position, but Clinton’s history in the role would place a unique burden on her pick.
Over in Foggy Bottom, the diplomatic establishment is rooting for one of its own.
